Editing Services

My editing work falls into two categories:

Fiction

I was Development Editor, and then Joint Series Editor of Cengage/National Geographic’s Page Turners series for which I story edited some 50 books, working with around 25 writers. The series has won a number of Learner Literature Awards.

I am an editor of fiction, specialising in mystery, thrillers, suspense and human interest.

Academic titles and training materials

I have extensive experience with publishers of English language teaching (ELT) materials and courses. I have worked on paper and digital content. I am experienced in developmental editing, copy editing, proofreading, and British/North American localization. My clients have included the British Council, Cambridge University Press, Cengage/ National Geographic, Oxford University Press and Scholastic. I am also on the Editorial Panel of the ELT Journal.

Here are some indicative projects that I’ve worked on:-

  • As Lead Consultant to British Council, Central and South Asia on English for Teaching. Teaching for English (ETTE) project, I edited the training manuals for seven countries.
  • Editor, Nepal ETTE Training courses, British Council Nepal.
  • Consultant Editor and Writer to British Council, India on the EU- funded Workplace English: Vocational Education and Training for Vulnerable and Marginalised Groups in India.
  • Consultant Editor to British Council, Kazakhstan. Providing consultancy and editorial support for the development of a distance teacher training course, working with Kazakh writers. British Council Kazakhstan.
  • Editor and Writer, British Council Sierra Leone, editing and partially rewriting 120 lessons for a coursebook at Primary Grades 4 and 6.
  • As Lead Consultant to British Council Serbia and Montenegro, I edited four teacher training manuals for Primary and Secondary sectors.
